Welcome!!
A little about the design Some of my regular customers will know one of my guilty pleasures is that I'm fascinated by couture gowns, even though my lifestyle is anything but. I love the textures, colours, design elements and the skill involved in making such beautiful items. Anyway, whilst down an internet rabbit hole, I came across a Norman Hartnell dress worn by the late Queen during her State Visit to the Netherlands in 1958 and just fell in love. This design is the result. The yellow used, by the way, is very close to the yellow in the gown and is much softer than it appears in the design pic. It's one of the few colours which don't come true on my software, apologies It is a ten month project, starting in May 2023 |
Technical Stuff
The quilt is around 90" although there is some fiddle room to make it larger or smaller when it comes to adjusting borders. It will be a 10 month project. |
Instalments
I specify the range of fabrics I have used to design this quilt top in the first instalment, but you don't necessarily have to use them. You can diet your stash!
BUT... please, if you don't want to be disappointed, pay close attention to the depth and tone of the fabrics I have used. A lot of the impact of the design comes from this, and it will help you get a good result if you try to stay on the page as regards your substitutions. |
