February - 'Secret Love'
|
For those who love all the hearts and flowers aspect of Valentine’s Day ! I COULD have made it totally symmetrical, but I thought from time to time we’ve all had our ‘crushes’ we keep concealed - and thus the one big cherry-red heart is tucked away ‘hiding’ amidst the shadowy hearts surrounding it. (And Ok, I admit I’m a fan of old musicals and ‘Calamity Jane; is one of my faves!)
Size: 70" x 90" approx |
March - 'Blossom'
|
This design is really for those who love Spring. Whilst working on it I had the old song ‘Cherry Blossom Pink, Apple Blossom White’ in my mind, as you can probably see from the colour scheme! There is something about seeing the trees bursting with blossom which makes you really believe that winter is finally relaxing its grip – such a joyful time! Do look up the song if you get the chance!
Size: 72" x 94" approx |
April - 'Window Box'
|
This celebrates the joy I always get from seeing my garden containers full of colour for the first time after winter. There are lots of tulips and hyacinths, but also young lavenders which are there for the foliage - but which will come into their own colour-wise further on into the year. I like the contrast between the deep greens of the bulb leaves and the more spiky jade tones of the lavenders
Size: 54" x 74" approx |
May - 'Quilt Deco'
|
This design has its origins in a trivial event – seeing some elderflower cordial being served in one of my Nanna’s vintage glasses. The combination of the gentle greenish drink and the Art Deco style set my ‘design cells’ off … Although it’s not directly related to ‘May’, what could speak more of early summer than a lovely glass of elderflower cordial? Just as the elder flowers are blooming in such profusion in the hedgerows!
Size: 96" square approx |
June - 'Wheat and Woodbine'
|
It's called 'Wheat and Woodbine' because I enjoying watching the wheat grow and change colour during June, and my lovely honeysuckle, which covers half my house, always flowers at this time- the perfume is amazing. When it isn't raining fit to burst – the UK isn't known for hot summers! - we have the kitchen door open and the scent competes with the smell of baking
Please note, since publication one of the colours used - 'Spruce' has been discontinued. 9900-416 ('Jungle') is a good alternative Size: 84" x 96"" approx |
July - 'By the Sea' |
This is a really 'nautical pattern - it's called ‘By the Sea' because so many of us spend time at the beach in July and I wanted something bright and happy to remind us all of the lovely experiences a beach holiday can give us. All the blocks used have a 'seaside' theme, and there are even jellyfish at our picnic!
Size: 102"" square approx There is a companion table runner pattern to go with this quilt.

September -
|
Well, we had 'Quilt Deco' in May and now I've moved into Art Nouveau. I really love the artwork of Alphonse Mucha and have been fortunate enough to visit Prague on a few occasions, to see exhibitions of his work and the Mucha Museum there. So... as my lavender has seen a second flush of flowers this month, which the bees are LOVING, here we have it... 'Jardin Nouveau '
Size: 92"" square approx |
October -
|
I had originally intended to design something with a 'Halloweeny' feel for October, but what actually came out of the process was a new Block of the Month - Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo! So, October's offering has nothing to do with the month in question and is a bit of a maverick - called 'Jade Garden' for no better reason other than that is the name of my favourite Chinese restaurant and I liked it!
As something a bit different for the PoMs, it's offered in two sizes and two backgrounds - again I couldn't decide which I liked more, so I am leaving it up to my beloved customers to make their own choice! The pattern includes full instructions for both sizes and backgrounds Size: Large - 108"" square approx Small - 84" square approx There is a companion table runner with matching cushion cover pattern to go with this quilt.

November -
|
This one is called 'Frozen Pond' - because - hey guess what?! - that is what we generally get when November rolls around. I was thinking of how frozen water looks early on a cold, frosty morning, so it has a very chilly feel. It won't stop it keeping you warm though!
It's a bit smaller than recent ones, so should make a nice sofa throw in which to snuggle up Size: 70" x 84" approx ** A word of caution** I'm using some of the newer Grunge colours and one of them in particular isn't coming true on my software. The most concerning is the most obvious 'light blue' forming the stars in the centre blocks? It isn't really light blue at all but a sort of soft bluey grey. have a look around at some of the thumbnails for this colour on online fabric shops to give you a better idea of what it is really like. This will mean the overall impression of the quilt is a lot more monochrome than blue. If you want to preserve the blue, I have included an alternative to give this effect within the instructions. |
December -
|
The inspiration for this one really came from me looking over my Christmas tree baubles in preparation for the festive season, and coincidentally thinking of the 'glitterballs' which were such a feature of every disco when I was growing up.
I deliberately wanted it to 'work' with pretty much any colour scheme and fabric people would like to use - I chose these colours because I like them, but I can't wait to see what people create from it when their imaginations are allowed to scamper freely in their stash fabrics. It would look really good, I think, when really bright primaries are used against a black background? Again, it's a bit smaller than some of my designs, so should make a nice sofa throw in which to snuggle up Size: 72" square approx |
