'PATTERN OF THE MONTH' 2020
The 'Class of 2020' is now closed but if anybody would like to purchase all 12 patterns there is a discounted price which works out less than $6 per pattern, which is still a mega-bargain! There are similar deals on all the 'closed' years and of course the 2022 programme is OPEN so if anybody would like to join the 'Calendar Girls' for this year, please do get in touch (we even have a Calendar GUY) so everybody will be in good company!
February - 'Creme Caramel'
I was thinking about all the yummy boxes of chocolates which are dished out on Valentine's Day, and somehow that got me thinking of one of my favourite desserts...
The design would look good in other colourways if caramel isn't your favourite! So why not indulge in your favourite treat? Size: 62" x 82" approx |
March - 'Mother's Day'
In the UK, Mothering Sunday happens during Lent, so it's usually in March - I know it happens at different times in different countries, but it's here now anyway.
I wanted to create something which was light and feminine without being too sickly, so I opted for a rose-and-teal colourway. It's perfectly Ok to substitute fabrics on this one, but if you want to retain the same effect, do go for teal rather than straight green or blue - it makes it just that bit 'different'. Size: 108" approx NB: 'Duchess' is listed with the SKU 31050-84 in the text. It's actually 30150-64. Apologies, I will get it altered in the next few days, in the meantime this note serves to alert you! |
April - 'Pansy Patch'
At the time of writing the news seems to be full of doom and gloom, and I so wanted to get away from all that! So I set forth to create something happy.
I receive a lot of joy from my garden, so when I was wandering around seeking some inspiration my eye was caught by my pots of pansies. I love these little flowers as no matter what the weather they seem to exude cheer. They never fail to raise a smile and a lift of the spirits - so what better subject on which to base my ideas for a 'happy quilt' ? I hope this brings you a smile too! Size: 72" approx |
May - 'Spring Nights'
June - 'Summer Mist'
Unusually for me I was up very early one morning and sat for a long old while with my mug of tea, happily watching the sun come up over our back paddock. I was entranced by the changing colours and effects created by the combination of rising mist from the (quite yellow it must be said) vegetation and bright sunlight trying to break through - it was almost pearlescent.
So... I hightailed it to my design software and did my best to capture that very special, quiet moment. Size: 68" x 88" approx |
July - 'Out of the Blue'
I was getting a bit worked up about not quite knowing what to do for the July PoM, so one night made myself a cup of tea and went outside to enjoy the peace and quiet of the wee small hours. Looking up at the stars on a clear, cool night, I suddenly got my inspiration - out of the blue!
Size: 98" approx |
August - 'Cream Tea'
Now, I confess I do like a good cream tea - there is something just so delicious about the combination of scones, jam, cream, various sandwiches and perhaps a bit of cake? All washed down, of course, with a lovely pot of tea. Cream teas are something I will indulge in pretty much everywhere, at any time, but again, there is nothing quite like sitting alfresco on a warm day and enjoying a leisurely tea, or cosying up in a good tea shop and seeing what they have to offer. Yeah, I'm feeling hungry again now!!
This design tries to capture the freshness of the food on offer, and the crisp white tablecloths which are the hallmark of a truly sumptuous tea. Size: 60" x 74" approx |
September - 'September Storm'
October - 'Hocus Pocus'
November - 'Sea Fog'
I had been wanting to design something monochrome for a while, and as November is a bit of a 'mono-month' I thought it would be appropriate to do so for this 'slot'. Our new house is quite close to the sea, and we often see some sea fog rolling in as a result and I love the effects of the wisps of fog encircling features in the landscape. For this design I have also included some mysterious seagulls, swooping around!
Size: 84" x 100" approx |
December - 'Croeso'
I have been struck this year by so many really beautiful wreaths being placed on peoples’ front doors in the lead up to the Christmas holiday. It seems that with so many restrictions on meeting up in person being put in place, it’s felt more natural to present a welcoming image to the world at large.
Thus, I’ve called this designs ‘croeso’ , which is the Welsh word for ‘welcome’ – and I hope it will make you full of the feeling of the ‘season of giving’ for many years to come, long after social distancing is a distant memory. Size: 64" x 74" approx |
