Welcome!!
A little about the design
In early June 2023, I had a week of solitude in rural mid-Wales, and discovered I was staying quite near what is reputedly the older Quaker Meeting House in Wales, at Dolobran. Of *course* I had to attend Meeting that Sunday! Dolobran is truly a magical place, very isolated - so much so that you have to walk up a track to get there as it's inaccessible by vehicle. The tranquility, and serene peacefulness is very typical of the older Meeting Houses I have visited and I found it a very refreshing and spiritually rewarding experience to meet with my fellow Friends there. Afterwards, as is usually the case, we all had tea in the garden, and because it was a beautiful sunny day this was another joyful experience. The plants were growing with such profusion, the honeysuckle was rampant and the woodland path leading to the Meeting House was carpeted with dog violets and other small plants. It was a truly memorable morning and one I shall treasure.
Once more, this design echoes the ethos of the 'Traditions' range of designs I put together some time ago, where I used quite simple blocks with few small pieces. The notion was really to give my customers a relaxing, uncomplicated time of things when working on the project in hand. So...this design may LOOK complicated, but the blocks used really are simple and there is hardly anything under 2" in the whole thing. So if you are looking for something completely untaxing to work on, which nonetheless has a bit of pizzazz to it, then look no further.
It is an eight month project, starting in June 2023

Technical Stuff
The quilt is around 80" x 88" although there is some fiddle room to make it larger or smaller when it comes to adjusting borders. It will be an eight month project. |
Instalments
I specify the range of fabrics I have used to design this quilt top in the first instalment, but you don't necessarily have to use them. You can diet your stash!
BUT... please, if you don't want to be disappointed, pay close attention to the depth and tone of the fabrics I have used. A lot of the impact of the design comes from this, and it will help you get a good result if you try to stay on the page as regards your substitutions. |
