Welcome!!
A little about the design
The act of designing is a strange and wonderful thing sometimes, and this is an example of that in action. I sat down at my design desk to work on something specific - and that fought me all the way, so much so that I ended up 'doing something entirely different'. This is the result, and has it has a vaguely military feel to it, I called it something suitably martial. The banner picture, by the way, includes an image of my cousins' Shire horse, now called Apollo, who was bought by the Household Cavalry to be their drum horse. Perhaps that what subconsciously influenced the design, because we'd all enjoyed spotting him in the parades which took place during the Coronation of King Charles.
For a while I'd had it in my mind to return to the ethos of the 'Traditions' range of designs I put together some time ago, where I used quite simple blocks with no small pieces. The notion was really to give my customers a relaxing, uncomplicated time of things when working on the project in hand. So...this design may LOOK complicated, but the blocks used really are simple and there is hardly anything under 2" in the whole thing. So if you are looking for something completely untaxing to work on, which nonetheless has a bit of pizzazz to it, then look no further.
It is a ten month project, starting in May 2023

Technical Stuff
The quilt is around 84" x 92" although there is some fiddle room to make it larger or smaller when it comes to adjusting borders. It will be a 10 month project. |
Instalments
I specify the range of fabrics I have used to design this quilt top in the first instalment, but you don't necessarily have to use them. You can diet your stash!
BUT... please, if you don't want to be disappointed, pay close attention to the depth and tone of the fabrics I have used. A lot of the impact of the design comes from this, and it will help you get a good result if you try to stay on the page as regards your substitutions. |
