Hello! and welcome to my first page of quilt designs. Here you can find ideas for throws and/or bed-sized quilts. Enjoy! And remember... if you have any questions at all, I LOVE getting mail!
Iced Mango
The inspiration for this design is my fantasy of being able to sit in the sun and relax with a lovely cool, fruity drink. 93" square, approx This design is free of charge - my present to you.
This was inspired by a visit to St Fagan's Museum of Welsh Life just outside Cardiff, where I saw an ornate piece of ironwork featuring a figure very much like this. Which just goes to show you can get inspiration from anywhere if you look hard enough! 105" square approx
I wanted to do something which might be appropriate for Valentine's Day. Not being a very 'girly girl', I didn't want anything too ''pink and cute' so I have balanced my favourite pink roses with a bit of cooling aqua and jade. 70" square approx.
My husband is a geologist and the idea of using geological, mineral, etc terms as a souce of inspiration was really kickstarted by him. With elegant greys and charcoals - and just a hint of gold! - it would complement a monochrome-themed room beautifully as a throw, as well as creating a calming effect in any bedroom. The pattern is $6.99 and may be downloaded from https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/quartz/221589
Happy
Designed on the first really cold day of winter, when I was trying to make myself believe that the Spring, with all its colour and warmth, really WOULD come again soon!
I've shown the smaller size here - 71" x 91" but the pattern also gives instruction for the larger size (91" x 111"). It is available through my Craftsy page and costs $6.99 - a real bargain to put a bit of light into the grey days of winter! https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/happy/225062
Sunflowers and Daisies
This is a quilt for confident beginners, or those looking for a quick project. It's a bit more 'folksy' than my usual designsbut would be a perfect size for a sofa throw to cheer up any room. The pattern is available from my Craftsy store and is $6.99 http://www.craftsy.com/pattern/quilting/home-decor/sunflowers-and-daisies/127107?_ct=iuqhsx-kdyluhiqb-huikbj-fqjjuhd&_ctp=127107
Wind, Wave, Weed and Foam
This quilt was inspired by a windy, wet day on one of my stays at Port Isaac in Cornwall, where the sea had been whipped up into a kaleidoscope of different hues. Strangely, the weather was exactly the same when I came to piece it, several months later! It is quite a BIG quilt, coming in at about 107" square. It is a little more difficult than many of my designs and is really aimed at competent quilters. The pattern costs $6.99 and is available from https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/wind-wave-weed-and-foam/232170
Night Flight
I wanted to create a design which captured the very special time at twilight when all the butterflies go to bed, and the moths come out to flit amongst the garden flowers.
Taking the ceramics of Southern Spain as inspiration, I wanted to remind myself of the sights, sounds, tastes and smells of many happy family holidays.
The pattern is $6.99 and may be found at https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/andalucia-/220148
Contrary Atelier
Every so often a range of patterned fabric appears which is so delicious I just cannot resist it, and this quilt is designed in one of these - Atelier by 3 Sisters for Moda.
Why is it contrary? I have used as the main block one of the two forms of 'Contrary Wife'!
The pattern costs $6.99 and may be found at https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/contrary-atelier/221105
Ice Crystal
This design was completed in the middle of a heatwave when I was desperately trying to accomplish a bit of self hypnosis to convince myself it really wasn't THAT bad outside... When the winter is fast approaching, it's not quite as amusing, but whatever the weather outside, I hope you enjoy this little gem. If you look carefully, you can see Jack Frost's little hands reaching in from the border!
A classic design for a novice or beginner quilter, inspired by a 'winter beach' palette from my friends at Design Seeds
I really want to support people who want to take up quilting, so this is priced at a bargain $5 to encourage the 'newbie', here is its link to my Craftsy store
My son found this fabric and said 'Look Mum, that's just like earth and water'. He has it on his bed - he loves the 'natural' tones but the design it would also look really good in any 'vintage' or 'Civil War' range, the slightly faded appearance of the colours make a soothing and gentle impression.
The pattern is available from my Craftsy store on https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/earth-and-water/228112
Hyacinth Bowl
This is another design aimed at the novice quilter - hopefully bringing them a smile as it's easy to piece and brings to mind the lovely days of early Spring when the scent of hyacinths is on the air and you can believe that the dark days of winter are behind you.
The pattern is available from my Craftsy store at a bargain $5 to encourage newbie quilters!
This grew from a custom design I did for a friend's first grandchild where she said she wanted to give the appearance of a star bursting forth. I don't repeat custom designs - they are unique, but I thought others might like something for their little stars! The pattern costs $6.99 and is available from https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/fireburst/228998
Bands of Steel
This is a design I did around 2015 but one I kept to myself for a while. I have large beds at my place and it was designed just for me as it is VERY big! After an 'event' on the MWQ Facebook page, it became clear my customers really liked it after seeing it on my Pinterest page, so I thought I would make it into a pattern for them too. (I am currently working on a smaller version for those who don't want to make something this big and aren't afraid of small pieces!)
BIG! - over 120" square approx., depending on how you do the borders!
